"Teach
this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service
and
compassion
are the things which renew humanity." - Buddha
The
Sri Swami Devanandaji Bharat Bhakti Yoga Ashram acknowledges the diversity of
human life and welcomes multicultural and multifaith involvement. While deeply rooted in Indian culture and
yoga practice derived from the rich traditions of Sanathan Dharma, it
recognizes the evolutionary nature of religious faith and the adaptations that
occur universally in all cultures of the world.
God is One and exists everywhere and within everyone and in all nature.
The
ashram stresses the importance of individual practice for consciousness
development and the need to uplift society in tangible ways.
As
much as we understand the importance of local initiatives, we recognize we live
in a global society, telecommunications reducing the barriers of geographical
distance with ever-increasing speed. We see the challenges this creates: the
dangers of cultural erosion, and the inequalities inherent in consumerism but
also the opportunities that exist as well.
Respecting
ancient traditions and selectively and intelligently using modern tools, we can
craft a new India, free from corruption, educated, prosperous, egalitarian,
generous, spiritual and disciplined.
